The Mac RAM is exactly the same but costs more. For example, Crucial sells regular RAM and Mac RAM with the same specs. Manufacturers often assign multiple product numbers to the same product. Strangely enough though, the reverse is not true. If Amazon is selling single sticks of name brand RAM with a specific manufacturer product number, when you buy two at the same time they should be exactly the same. In general, name brand RAM with different configurations will have different product numbers. I have ordered two single sticks before and they arrived as one high-density and one low-density. I wanted to take advantage of that speed by updating the RAM from 8GB installed out of the box to 16GB of after market memory.īecause of the ease upgrading my iMac 27 to 16GB with Crucial Memory, I stuck with Crucial Memory for the MacBook 15 RAM upgrade to 16GB (cost was $125 + shipping). What was a deal maker for me was that RAM speed capability has been bumped up to 1600 MHz. The latest MacBook Pro 15 has many superb updates from the previous model.
There are benefits for being in The Davenport Projex :-) I now own this MacBook Pro 15, iPhone 5, iPad (3rd gen.), and a 2011 iMac 27 - My wife has an iPhone 5, iPad Mini, and MacBook Air 13 (which I gave her with this recent MacBook 15 purchase - only 6 months of use) - My daughter has the iPhone 5, iPad (2nd gen - which I gave to her after about 6 months of use), and a MacBook Pro13 (which I gave her when heading to college this past Fall - getting the MacBook Air 13 for myself as a replacement). I bought the latest MacBook Pro 15 last week (Intel 2.6 i7, 750GB HD, and 8GB RAM out of the box).
